You’re a valuable resource.
Today’s seasoned citizens embody the ideal workforce. Besides the background, knowledge and specific skill sets you bring to the table, you offer organizations large and small a combination of dependability, maturity, reliability and sound judgment that’s all too rare today. But you may need help finding an ideal employer.
If you’re an over-50 resident of New Castle County, the Wilmington Senior Center can work with you to find exactly what you’re looking for, whether that’s a new challenge, a fulfilling opportunity, a more productive lifestyle, or a supplementary income.
Our Senior Employment Services professionals connect older workers with local employers. When you meet with us we’ll first help you identify your skills. Then we’ll match your interests and capabilities to the needs of a New Castle County employer. The qualifications they’re looking for range from the basic to the highly specialized. Part-time and full-time work schedules, as well as job sharing, may be available.
The Wilmington Senior Center also administers the Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) offering job referral and placement services. SCSEP provides subsidized, part-time employment training opportunities. Persons enrolled in SCSEP are assigned to non-profit community service and government agencies to gain practical work experience prior to entering the mainstream labor force. Participants work 20 hours per week at minimum wage.
The bottom line: local employers value your ethic and your experience.
If you’re ready to put that package to work in the local marketplace, call us and we’ll make the connections.
